Chocolate-Cinnamon Frozen Banana Pops

Congratulations on completing the clean eating challenge!  Hopefully you feel healthy and strong and reached your goals.  Whether you lost weight or your CFT increased, or both, it feels good to reach goals that only 30 days ago may have seemed unattainable.  Feel good about what you accomplished, none of it is easy, but it’s all totally worth it.

2 bananas, peeled and cut crosswise into thirds
8 ounces 70% cocoa chocolate, chopped
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup chopped hazelnuts, toasted

Line a baking sheet with wax paper.  Insert a popsicle stick or wooden skewer in one end of each banana piece.  Freeze until hard, at least 2 hours.

When ready to dip the bananas, place the chocolate and cinnamon in a heatproof bowl set over-not in-a pan of gently simmering water.  Stir until just melted.  Make sure no water gets into the chocolate or it will “seize up,” becoming clumpy, oily, and unusable.

Work with one banana at a time.  Dip the banana in the chocolate, spooning on additional chocolate to cover.  Sprinkle the banana with hazelnuts and set it back on the baking sheet.  Repeat with the remaining bananas.  Place the baking sheet back in the freezer until ready to serve or for up to 2 days (cover if storing for longer than a few hours).  Let stand at room temperature for 5 minutes before serving.

Dark chocolate (not white or milk) possess powerful antioxidants that help protect cells and has been shown to lower blood-pressure.  It’s got a low glycemic-index so it doesn’t spike blood-sugar and its natural compounds have been shown to induce pleasure and stabilize mood (like we didn’t already know that) (allchocolate).  This once in awhile treat is tasty, somewhat paleo, and the perfect way to celebrate your successes over the past 30 days.

Now that the clean eating challenge is over, set some new goals for yourself.  Lose another 5 pounds, finally get kipping pull-ups, back squat 300 pounds, rx hspu’s in the next wod, or continue to eat clean.  Whatever your goals are, you’ve got an amazing community to support you through the struggles and celebrate with you when you go beastmode.  Rip it!
